Michigan Heritage Barns

Traditional Barn Packages

One day while looking at the foundation that was all that remained of an old gambrel barn.  I couldn't help but feel a sense of loss.  I thought about my children.  If these barns keep disappearing they will never have the chance to experience the romance of these old cathedrals.  I decided to start producing  a line of barns inspired by the barns of  Michigan's farm heritage.  That day the Michigan Heritage Barn idea was born.  My goal was to produce a barn design and  package that would be a worthy replacement of the old barns that I remembered.

If you are tired of those boring pole barns and want something different.  Something that will last. Something that will not only serve a utility purpose but also has beauty and style.  Then you want a Michigan Heritage Barns Barn Package.  These barn packages come standard with rough sawn full dimension white pine timbers and boards. The white pine we use is cut here in Michigan.  Also standard is a professionally drawn set of plans, steel joinery plates, and bolts, one sliding door, and one entry door. 1x8 roof boards and 1x10 board and 1x3 batten siding is included.  Ondura roofing now comes standard with your barn package.

Some options are extra doors, planed ship lap pine boards, hardwood timber upgrade, extra material packages, and lean-to's.

We offer a gable roof barn, a gambrel roof barn, an octagon barn, pavilions, horse run in shelters, potting sheds, garden sheds, wood silos, pergolas, and gazebos.

Advantages of a Michigan Heritage barn over pole barns.

1. They provide an affordable authentically designed addition to any

existing barn or homestead.

2. They will outlast any pole barn and have the strength and stability

to last for generations.

3. They are attractive and can add much more to the value of your

property than a pole barn.

4. They can be easily converted into living space.

5. Provides a low noise environment for livestock. Have you ever been

in a steel pole barn in a rain storm? The noise can really cause stress

in your livestock.

6. An old time barn raising will bring a community together. Everyone

will want to see your new barn.

7. All the wood is above grade greatly reducing the chance of rot.

8. Posts are attached to the concrete using 3/16" thick steel U brackets which are 3 times the thickness of similar hurricane proof post brackets.

9. Our open truss design coupled with 10' bent spacing allows for extra room for a loft, storage, or a dramatic cathedral ceiling.

Michigan Heritage Barns are made in the USA.

1. All the lumber is harvested and cut here in Michigan.

2. Brackets and hardware are made by a small Michigan Machine shop.

3. Ondura roofing is made in Fredericksburg VA.
